Easy Cranberry Sauce Recipe- Only Takes 15 minutes!

easy-cranberry-sauceFor some odd reason, I always feel like simple things that come in cans and jars are soooo A. difficult to make, B. have too many ingredients, or C. too time consuming so instead of looking up recipes, I just grab the jar off the grocery store shelf. However, this past Thanksgiving made me think differently.

My mom called herself being “fancy” so she decided to take the can of cranberry sauce and spruce it up with actual cranberries. Thinking maybe she tried a recipe and made some cranberry sauce (I should know my mother better than that), I popped a cranberry into my mouth.

My face instantly puckered up then my mom comes out of seemingly nowhere and says she just wanted to make it look nicer so she just put some actual cranberries in there but didn’t cook them. Great, now she tells me.

After that, I wondered exactly how difficult or easy making cranberry sauce would actually be so I went to my favorite recipe website, allrecipes.com. I love their recipes because they typically make any dish that you like in the easiest way possible with the least amount of ingredients.

Today, I want to share that recipe with you. It is so simple and easy that I just might try it for the upcoming holidays.

Ingredients:

  • 12 ounces of cranberries (of course)
  • 1 cup white sugar (typically I don’t like to cook with pure sugar because it isn’t healthy and breaks my face out. I usually substitute anything that calls for sugar in a recipe with honey which is what I will probably do for this recipe as well)
  • 1 cup of orange juice

Directions:

  • Place a medium sized pan on the stove over medium heat
  • Pour the orange juice into the pan
  • Pour the sugar into the pan and let it dissolve in the orange juice
  • Stir in the cranberries into the pan
  • Cook until you hear them pop which takes about 10 minutes
  • Remove cranberry sauce from heat and transfer the sauce into a bowl
  • The sauce will begin to thicken as it cools. For faster cooling, put the bowl into the fridge

After looking up these directions, I couldn’t believe how simple it was. You really are only using 1 pan and 3 ingredients. Best of all, it takes only 15 minutes. I hope you enjoy this recipe. There will be more to come!
